Scribd Audiobook Recommendations

Hello lovely reader! In today’s blog post I will be recommending you some of my favourite audiobooks, which you can all find on the app Scribd. I’ve been using Scribd for about two years now and it is a perfect app for me. You can find both ebooks and audiobooks on there. If you want to listen to the audiobooks I’ve listed below, or an other audiobook, you can get two months of Scribd for free by clicking here. This blog post is not sponsored by Scribd, that link is my invite friends link. So when you use that link for two months of Scribd for free, I also get a free month.

But now let’s get into my five audiobook recommendations!

1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Okay, so I know this book is very hyped. But it is my favourite book of all time and the audiobook is just amazing, so I couldn’t not recommend this book. Since the book is dual perspective, there are also two audiobook narrators. Both of them are very talented and have a nice voice to listen to. And if you’re an emotion wreck like me, this audiobook is guaranteed to make you cry.
I honestly just want to recommend every Taylor Jenkins Reid book as an audiobook, I’ve listened to all of them and they are all very well done and have good narrators.

2. My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel

My Dark Vanessa is a very unconfortable and chills-giving story. Listening to the audiobook really made my experience of this book different. It’s one thing to read about a relationship between a student and her teacher, but it’s a completely different thing to have it told to you. In some way it really felt like I was listening to a podcast episode of someone talking about their experience rather than listening to an audiobook. I think the audiobook just made this book feel even more realistic.

3. Not That Bad, edited by Roxane Gay

Not That Bad is a collection of essays all about rape culture. I think listening to the audiobook for this was a great choice because every essay is narrated by the person who wrote the essay. By doing that you were sure that you got the story like it was meant to be told and I loved that. Another thing that I loved about this collection is that it has such a wide representation of people who have been a victim of rape culture and that is just fantastic.

4. The Book of Essie by Meghan MacLean Weir

The Book of Essie was an amazing audiobook. It gave me a bit of the same feelings as My Dark Vanessa in the way that this book also made my angry with the world (and especially some of it’s characters), but it also felt more like a podcast episode than an audiobook. The audiobook, once again, made the story feel so real. I also remember really liking this narrator’s voice.

5. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

Okay, hear me out before you start to judge me. Ever since I was like 14 I’ve been in love with the TV show Pretty Little Liars, it really was a big part of my teenage years. And once the Tv series finished I just thought “Why not read the book series as well?” And so that’s what I did. I listened to the audiobooks for book 2 through 8 and they are amazing. The narrator is perfect for these books, she has the voice you would imagine a narrator for Pretty Little Liars would have. The nice thing about these audiobook is that they are all pretty short, they’re all around 7 to 8 hours. So if you, like me, listen to your audiobooks on a quicker speed you just fly through this series. I’m still really sad that Scribd doesn’t have the audiobooks for books 9 through 16, but I also couldn’t find them anywhere else so I think they just were never made? So that’s even sadder.

So those were my audiobook recommendations. Do you have any audiobook recommendations?
