Stay At Home Readathon TBR

The amazing Alissa from Allisasbooktopia on Instagram decided to host a little readathon during this corona quarantaine time. The readathon will take place from the 23th up until the 29th of March. There are seven prompts, but you can double up or just skip prompts you don’t want do to.

I doubt I’ll be able to read 7 books, so I didn’t make a TBR of 7 books. Next to that I had to be very creative with the prompts because I am at home during the quarantaine time and most of my TBR books are still in my dorm room. I did bring a couple, but some of them are already for the O.W.L.s readathon, so I can’t use those. But luckily I have a Kindle with quite some ebooks on and I have Scribd so I can read ebooks and audiobooks on my phone as well.

Nevertheless, here is my TBR for the Stay At Home Readathon:

  1. A book with an element of nature on the cover: How To Make Friends with the Dark by Kathleen Glasgow

Here you have my first creative answer… On the cover of this book there is a girl who is filled in with grayish dots and I’m just going to interpret those dots as stars. How To Make Friends with the Dark is also a buddy read with Hadewych from thereaderinpink.

  2. A sequel you’ve been wanting to read: A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin

I’m going to be honest: I doubt I’ll finish this one, but I’ll be happy to just start this because this brick is 800 pages long. I mean now I finally have some more reading time to try to get through this thicc boy, so I should at least try eh.

  3. A book that doesn’t take place in our time: A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin

The Game of Thrones series is a medieval fantasy so that’s quite obviously not our time period.

  4. A book that isn’t popular in the book community: The Furies by Katie Lowe

This will be the next audiobook I’ll be picking up and I’ve never really heard that many people talking about it so I guess it fits this prompt!

  5. A book that is outside your comfort zone: My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel

I’m actually currently reading this book as an audiobook and I doubt I’ll finish it before the readathon starts, so I’m taking it over to the readathon. I’ve never read any book like this and it’s quite an uncomfortable book, so that’s why it fits this prompt.

  6. A book that is told through a special format (e.g. letters): Dierenrechten by Dirk-Jan Verdonk

This is a Dutch non-fiction book about animal rights and quite some of the reviews say this is told in a summary type of format so I’m counting it as a special format. It’s also a super short book (under 200 pages) so that’s perfect for a readathon!

  7. The book that has been on your TBR the longest: I’m skipping this prompt because the book that has been on my TBR the longest is The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo. But I don’t own that book and the library is closed, so I simply can’t get ahold of it and I don’t want to buy it.

So as you can tell my list is a bit of mess, but I can give you the order I’ll be reading these books in:

Physical books:

  • How To Make Friends with the Dark: Hadewych and I decided to read 60 pages of this book each day, so we will have it finished by the Saturday of the readathon. So I will be reading this book throughout – nearly – the whole readathon.
  • Dierenrechten: I currently read more than 60 pages a day, so once I’ve made it to my 60 pages of my buddy read, I’ll pick up this book and hopefully finish it in a couple of days.
  • Feast for Crows: and then once I’ve finished Dierenrechten, Feast for Crows will take its place as my second physical read.

I think the order of my two audiobooks speaks for itself.

I hope you enjoyed this messy blogpost and let me know if you’ll be participating in the readothon!
